Turning unprepared people into unstoppable partners

Have you ever felt just about as unprepared as possible for doing what God wants next?

Victoria Tidwell was 25, pregnant for the first time and unsure what to do for herself or the baby growing inside her.

But today, Tidwell is an experienced mother of two, and she knows exactly what to do: volunteer at the Hope Home to help young moms with their challenges.

New Beginnings Church, a Converge MidAtlantic congregation, built the 5000-square-foot home. Tidwell, who worships at New Beginnings, will soon welcome as many as five girls aged 13 to 19 as they move into the house.

Starting this fall, new moms will receive a wide range of services plus support from two house mothers trained in foster care. The church also has volunteers who will help out in different ways.

Rev. Twanna Henderson said helping the unprepared describes the desire of those in the church who have supported this ministry endeavor since its beginning.

She co-founded the church with her husband, New Beginnings senior pastor Dr. Michael Henderson, and now serves as the executive minister of church ministries.

The church is coming alongside the young mothers to support them as they commit to raising these babies. Tidwell knows how New Beginnings has helped her discover all God had prepared for her, even as she navigated her overwhelming moments.

She remembers everything she didn’t know, but she’s navigated the diapers, bottles and lactation classes.

She, Henderson and the church are ready to help young moms and their babies win and thrive. They are confident in God, who makes new beginnings for unprepared people.

He’s the one who turns unprepared people into unstoppable partners.
