May Fifteen: From Crisis to Hope

Seven Years of Ministry and Continuing

Before the devastating flood of 2020, approximately 400 Christian families in the May Fifteen area of Cairo, Egypt, lived in what was commonly known as the “Garbage Area.” Families struggled to survive in extreme poverty, living among garbage with little access to basic necessities. The community lacked reliable electricity, clean water, schools, medical care, and safe places for children to play. Many residents earned their living by collecting and sorting garbage, while children often faced dangerous conditions simply trying to attend school.

The 2020 flood brought additional hardship to an already vulnerable community, exposing the instability of homes built without proper foundations and the challenges of living in an area with limited infrastructure. Yet even amid these difficulties, God has continued to open doors for ministry, compassion, and transformation.

Today, while many challenges remain, there is growing hope. Through the support of churches, mission teams, and generous partners, families are receiving practical assistance, spiritual encouragement, and opportunities that were once unimaginable. Children who lacked basic school supplies have received backpacks and educational materials—many for the very first time in their lives. Families are being reminded that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.

Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Savior and Provider, meeting both spiritual and practical needs while sharing the hope of the Gospel. As we serve this community, our desire is not only to address immediate needs but also to help establish a lasting legacy of faith, hope, and opportunity for future generations.

Together, we are witnessing God bring light into difficult circumstances and helping this community move from survival toward a future filled with hope.
