2019 Ministry Report

John & Jan Baxter

Missionary

I know end-of-the-year reports can be long and boring, but Jan and I know you invested your time in prayer and your treasure in financial partnership, and we want you to praise the Lord with us.

In short, what we have worked on for over eight years is coming to fruition in wonderful ways.

Here’s the longer, but still abbreviated, version:

  • Because of the pastor training sessions conducted in five cities in February and October, hundreds of Egyptian pastors are beginning to mobilize their members who work throughout the Middle East as tent-making missionaries.
  • Through NextMove, the diaspora missions ministry we lead, two mission agencies are in the formal consulting process we developed to increase diaspora missions effectiveness.
  • Numerous mission networks use us as diaspora missions advisors, and more groups are in line for NextMove consultation.
  • NextMove, South Korea was launched. Like NextMove US, this ministry is helping Korean mission groups become more effective in diaspora missions.
  • The Converge city strategy that I played a key role in launching to reach immigrant groups in U.S. cities is being implemented in one city with two more in the works.
  • An important partnership between Converge and Christar was negotiated during our time in Spain. This partnership will let Converge use governmental agencies and economic platforms for missions to people on-the-move.
  • Several global initiatives led by Converge missionaries are including diaspora strategies. More will soon follow.
  • As adjunct faculty with Sioux Falls Seminary, I mentored a Nigerian church leader through his doctoral process. This leader is helping the Nigerian church in America to be healthy and missional.
  • As adjunct faculty at a university, Jan continues to have opportunities to interact with international students.

Feel free to email me at JohnB@converge.org, and I’ll gladly send more 2019 details and tell you about exciting opportunities ahead for 2020.

Please consider an end-of-the-year gift. I tend to say “yes” to these amazing opportunities and trust the Lord for adequate funding. Now we need both personal and ministry funds. If you choose to give, you can use the green envelope we’re enclosing, or you can give online at https://converge.org/missionary/john-jan-b.

Thank you for your partnership!                     Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year
