August Update & Ministry Focus

Hello Everyone!

In the coming weeks, we want to introduce you to some of the ministry partners we are working with across the Europe and Mediterranean Region, and keep you updated on our personal progress toward returning there.

MINISTRY FOCUS: Tibor & Marta Miklos: Bartimeus Foundation - Budapest, Hungary.

Though both blind, Tibor and Marta have not lost their vision for what God has called them to do. Their pastoral ministry continues to the many unreached people of the Hungarian capital city. Tibor trains and coaches church planters and is still involved in planting new congregations. But in the 10 years since he went blind, God has given him an additional call - to introduce others with physical barriers to the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them grow in a relationship with God.

With a ministry team of volunteers, they started a Christian organization called the Bartimeus Foundation. Their goal is to make disciples who will make disciples – who will all be fellow-laborers for Christ. The ministry includes distributing audio Bibles in the Hungarian language for those who are blind and who have never been taught braille. In their work among the poor, they were prompted by the Holy Spirit to expand that work to one of the most oppressed and underprivileged groups in Central Europe – the Roma (who are sometimes called “gypsies”). Many of the Roma are illiterate, and Tibor saw that their audio Bibles could have a huge impact on this unreached people. Their ministry now regularly includes the distribution of Bibles to people in the Hungarian, Romanian and Russian languages.

This week, they are conducting a camp for blind people. They are expecting 40 people at the camp. Tibor asks for prayers for Miki, a college student, who is attending for the first time. Each day will have two sessions, with worship, testimonies from other blind believers, and gospel proclamation. Please pray for this camp: a) God to protect us from any virus; b) for our volunteer team; c) people to understand the gospel and to accept Christ.

In addition, please pray for these requests: Tibor recently was able to purchase a van for his ministry but needs to hire (and pay!) a driver. Pray for their daughter, Noemi, who is in her final year of study at Moody Bible Institute. She does not know if she will be able to return to school in the USA – or complete the work from Hungary. PERSONAL UPDATE:

• We’re in a mandatory 2-week quarantine after returning to NY after a 5-week, 5-state tour. After 6 days, no sign of infection has appeared. Throughout our travels, we followed all local requirements, and we saw God’s protection and provision. Thank you for your prayers!!

• We are now at 92% of our support raising goal – Praise the Lord! We only need about $600/month to be fully funded.

• God has provided our daughter Nicole and her family with a home to live in effective September 1 – a miraculous answer to prayer since they are currently unemployed!

• While the borders to our Region are closed to US travelers, we continue to work with local ministry leaders. God is demonstrating to them and us that He is building His church by empowering and equipping local gospel movements with local leaders to reach unreached people in ways we never would have thought possible. Pray for those leaders, and pray for us, that we can faithfully work alongside them for the Kingdom!
