Converge welcomed 14 global worker candidates to its Missionary Discovery & Assessment in Orlando October 29 – November 1, 2024. We celebrate not only the opportunity we had to assess these candidates but the partnership behind our sending churches and Converge Regions.
Chapelstreet Church in Geneva, IL and Bethany Baptist Church in Harwood Heights, IL with the Converge MidAmerica/Southeast/Caribbean Region.
This candidate group was one of the largest we have had in the past year, consisting of those wanting to serve in a two-year apprenticeship through our partnership with an organization that works in the United Kingdom called the Alliance for Transatlantic Theological Training (AT3), those who want to serve in our two-year [IM]PACT Residency, and those who feel called to serve long term.
This group was unique in that they demonstrated a desire to build relationships among themselves, which led to self-initiated decisions to change where they sat each day in the main meeting room. Their love for Jesus and people was lived out in their actions.
Missionary Discovery & Assessment is a Spirit-led time for candidates to discover more about God, themselves, others, and their call to ministry. During the three-and-a-half days, Converge assessors evaluated the candidates for spiritual, emotional, and relational health and suitability for serving cross-culturally worldwide.
Eleven (11) candidates received a “Go,” which means they are ready to serve in cross-cultural ministry with some recommended preparation. Three (3) candidates received a “Prepare,” which means they need to engage in long-term preparations before serving cross-culturally.
At Converge, we are asking God for a gospel movement among every least reached people group ― in our generation. To see God accomplish this vision, we are preparing to deploy more than 350 global workers over the next five years. Learn how you can play a part in reaching people across the street and around the world with the gospel. We are excited and expectant for how God is using each of us to make that prayer a reality…for God’s glory!
