Give
Reflections from a Converge Church Planting Assessor

A Full Circle Calling

Pastor Vincent Silmon

Stepping Back into a Sacred Space

Every time I walk into the Converge Church Planting Assessment Center (CPAC), I am reminded that church planting is not simply a strategy. It is a move of God. This past October, I had the privilege of serving again as an assessor. While it was only my second time in that role, my connection to CPAC began eleven years ago when my wife and I sat on the candidate side of the table. We were hopeful, eager, and ready to discern where God was leading us. Returning now as an assessor feels like a full circle moment that only God could write.

The Gift of Listening to Calling

One of the greatest joys of CPAC is meeting passionate potential planters who love Jesus and love the people in their communities. Every story carries the weight of calling. Each conversation holds the spark of a future movement. Hearing how God is preparing leaders to reach the lost renews my faith and reminds me that He is still very much at work.

Every story carries the weight of calling. Each conversation holds the spark of a future movement.

Serving Alongside a Unified Team

Another highlight is serving with the team of assessors from across the Converge network. They bring wisdom, discernment, and a genuine heart for the next generation of church planters. Together we pray, discuss, and at times wrestle as we seek the Lord’s direction for each candidate. It is a beautiful example of unity in mission and collaboration for the sake of the gospel.

A Process Rooted in Care

What sets the Converge Assessment Center apart is its deep commitment to caring for the planter as a person. It is not only about evaluating readiness but about shepherding calling. Sometimes that means affirming and strengthening a leader’s God given vision. Other times it means guiding them toward a different direction that better fits their gifts or season. In every case, each candidate leaves knowing they were seen, valued, and supported.

Grateful for the Mission Ahead

I am genuinely thankful for Marlan and the entire CPAC team. Their excellence and their heart for the mission set the tone for everything that happens in that room. Eleven years after entering CPAC as a candidate, I am reminded again that God is still calling His people, His Church is still advancing, and the future of church planting is filled with hope.

God is still calling. His Church is still advancing. The future of church planting is filled with hope.

The Movement Continues

Every planter who steps into CPAC represents another community where the gospel can take root and transform lives. Every moment of discernment carries the potential to reach people who have not yet met Jesus. This is why we assess. This is why we send. This is why we keep planting. The mission continues to move forward through the leaders God raises up and the churches they will start.
