Converge Responds: Hurricane Harvey

Assisting victims of Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey rolled through Southeast Texas this week, leading to the loss of lives and leaving flooding and destruction in its wake. Converge Texas church planters Justin & Rebecca Moore (Cypress Community Church) and their family were among the many driven from their home by flooding.

Many are in need of shelter, food and medical assistance. Converge Southwest district has been in contact with Converge Texas and Converge Louisiana churches, as well as Vision Texas church plants, to discover their situations and learn about needed assistance.

Converge Southwest has initiated the Hurricane Harvey Flood Relief account to receive funds. Monies received will be used to assist our pastors/planters, their congregations and communities in clean up, repair and recovery efforts.

In addition to the Red Cross shelter service partnership that offers free Teladoc general medical services to those in shelters, Teladoc is now also offering access to general medical care at no charge for residents of the Hurricane Harvey evacuation zones in Texas and Louisiana.

To receive care, affected individuals should call the designated hotline – 855-220-4585. Additional information can also be found at Teladoc.com/Harvey. This service is available to any individual impacted during the emergency, and is not tied to current client or health plan accounts.
