Roughly 2% of the 71 million Deaf individuals in developing countries currently have access to the gospel story. An untold number of Deaf in every region of the world are born, live and die without ever once encountering a follower of Jesus who can speak their language.
For too long, the Deaf have been overlooked. 80% of the 32 million Deaf children around the world have no access to education. Poverty, deprivation, and lack of rights result in Deaf people imprisoned to slavery, sexual abuse, rape, and isolation. We believe Deaf people are a significant part of God’s design with a language of beauty.
Converge is committed to coming alongside churches to catalyze global partnerships that will spur gospel movements among Deaf people groups in the U.S. and worldwide. Without the targeted initiatives of Converge, many of the Deaf around the world will remain isolated and separated from the love of Jesus.
