Summary: The Executive Pastor (EP) supports the Senior Pastor (SP) in carrying out the church’s mission through ministry oversight and evaluation, decision-making, strategic planning, and overall direction of the church staff. The EP will ensure that each ministry creates an environment where participants can Discover a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, Connect with caring, likeminded believers, Grow in spiritual, emotional, and relational maturity, and Serve each other, the local community, and the world together. The overall mission of the Executive Pastor will be to see that ministries are aligned to honor God by developing more disciple-making followers of Jesus Christ.

I. Qualifications

a. Must possess and be able to communicate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and at least five years of experience of growth in maturity.
b. Must practice the disciplines of regular, personal Bible study, worship, fellowship, and prayer. Must meet the qualifications for elder-level leadership as described in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Must be able to meet requirements, including baptism by immersion, for church membership.
c. Possesses a bachelor’s degree and/or a master’s degree in pastoral ministry or business administration. (May be waived for experience.)
d. Three years’ experience in senior leadership in a church of 400 or more.
e. Demonstrates a call of God and passion for seeing the church reach unbelievers with the Gospel and disciple believers as they mature.
f. Able to speak, write, and teach clearly, effectively, and appropriately.
g. Able to establish organized, measurable admin and ministry processes.
h. Ability to relate well and work effectively with leaders, including church staff and volunteers and community members of varied backgrounds.
i. Able to cast compelling vision for adults, challenging them to engage.
j. Able to agree fully and comply with the mission, vision, statement of faith, and priorities as stated in the Church Bylaws and Guiding Principles.
k. Able to pass initial and periodic thorough background examinations.

II. Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

a. Supports the SP in carrying out the church’s mission through ministry oversight and evaluation, decision-making, strategic planning, and overall direction of the church staff and senior-level preschool staff.
b. Leads ministry staff in the establishment and direction of ministries to effectively reach the church’s membership, as well as incoming members of the local community, ensuring the accomplishment of the mission.
c. Ensures the operational readiness of the church through leadership and oversight of the support staff performing administrative duties including finances, human resources, facilities management, and special events.
d. Facilitates an annual strategic planning process, including evaluation of ministry staff performance; review of the mission, vision, and priorities; development of key objectives and tactics; and establishment of goals.
e. Establishes and maintains a set of performance measures that provide ongoing visibility of the effectiveness of all functional areas of the church.
f. Develops annual financial budgets and investment plans to fund ministry objectives and meet future goals for general operations, capital reserves, benevolence assistance, outreach projects, and future development.
g. Continually improves and develops infrastructure for all ministries.
h. Oversees capital campaigns and campus expansion construction.
i. (Future) Supports and/or oversees church planting efforts by the church.

General Responsibilities

a. Co-leads with the SP and participates in church staff meetings.
b. Maintains relational availability to staff, volunteers, and members.
c. Supports the church staff in accomplishing the church’s mission.

III. Relationships

a. Reports to the Encompass Church Senior Pastor.
b. Oversees other Encompass Church staff and leaders.

Encompass Church (www.encompass.church) is located at 11150 Hilltop Road, Parker, CO 80134. We are a church of approximately 600 adults, students, and children in Sunday worship attendance and are steadily growing as new communities are being built nearby.
