Have you ever met someone and knew that God’s hand had been on his life? Jade is one of those people. After nine years in prison, he got out and was ready to return to a normal life. There was something different, though. This time, he had a relationship with God and was looking for a community of believers.

While Jade was in prison, he met a friend who was different than everyone else. Jade asked him about it, and his friend explained that he knew Jesus and challenged him to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8). Jade decided to take him up on it and seek God out for the first time in his life. Soon, miracle after miracle started to happen in his life, including being allowed into a GED program that was supposed to be closed. When Jade asked why the prison worker let him in, she said, “I just felt like God was calling me to let you into the program.”

Fast forward to April 11 at Anchor Church, a church plant in Champaign, Illinois, when Jade finally got to be baptized and go public with his faith. While Nick was interviewing him beforehand, he said, “Anchor has been like a family to me.” Once we got outside, it was cold and rainy, but nothing was going to stop him from following Jesus in baptism.
