One of the first times I remember hearing about ministry overseas was when a lady from my church came to speak to my 5th grade Sunday school class about her missionary work. After hearing her speak about how she was serving the Lord in another country, I signed up for the short-term mission our church was participating in. Many years later, I would choose to pursue a degree in Global and Intercultural Engagement in college with the hopes of helping people come to know and love God. Today, I am still on this journey of learning about what God is doing around the world and my part in that which is why I am very excited about serving in Estonia for my [IM]pact internship.
While in Estonia for a few months this coming Spring, I will be partnering with the long-term global workers in a variety of their different ministries to reach the people of Estonia with the Gospel. One of the main ministries that exists is a place called the Refuge Ministry Center which supports youth in the city who are exploring life’s questions and who God is. While serving there, I hope to be used by the Lord to help reach the people of Estonia so that they may know who Jesus is to them. My goal is also to learn what it is like to do ministry overseas in a different culture and build relationships with the people there.
