Togo Deaf Ministry
The Deaf Togolese and Beninese are considered unreached people groups. Oftentimes, Deaf people in developing countries are overlooked or even seen as cursed. Many will live their whole lives without ever being able to effectively communicate with those around them. If that basic communication in Sign Language isn’t accessible to them, how will they ever be reached with the gospel?
We know that the Deaf are fearfully and wonderfully made and their lives can be transformed by the gospel. Through more access to education and communication in Sign Language, we are already seeing that life transformation take place among the Deaf population. We are asking God for Deaf disciple-makers to be made in the Voodoo capital of the world.
The People & Place
The fourth project is the Deaf Project. Official estimates state that there are 85,000 deaf people in Togo and Benin. Most deaf West Africans are considered to be a shame to their families and are, therefore, held back from everyday life. Our desire is to reach the often overlooked deaf populations with the gospel.
