Story

Hello, my name is Kelsie. Since graduating in 2023 with a degree in Emergency and Disaster Management, I’ve been in an in-between season. Having surgery right after graduating with a recovery time of a year to a year and a half was not ideal, but it gave me time to reflect and grow in my relationship with God. That summer was the first summer I had not been at a summer camp, in some capacity, since I started going in 2006. As difficult as it was for me to not be at camp, God knew I needed rest. He was preparing me for this internship opportunity but I didn’t know that then.

This past summer I was fortunate enough to be able to volunteer at a local church camp. It was truly remarkable to see God at work in not only the kids’ lives but the other staff volunteer’s lives as well. This was the first time I worked at a church camp and my eyes, mind, and heart were completely opened to just how impactful children can be at embracing and sharing the Gospel.

The internship that I’ve been accepted to partake in is in Estonia. There, less than 2% of the population knows who Jesus is. I will get to work with Converge global workers and some local leaders in youth outreach in the form of summer camp ministries. I am excited to work in this cross-cultural environment, grow in my own faith, and spread the love of Jesus Christ. God called me to this internship and had a way paved for me to hear about it. I prayed about it for months if this is what he wanted me to do and I am confident after spending that time in prayer that it is. I pray that by the end of this internship He would show me what’s next.
