Mid-Year Ministry Update

As we enter the summer months and begin to look towards the 2023 Advance Conference in October, I want to share with you what has been happening with the regional ministry this year. We have so much to celebrate what God is doing throughout the region.

In early June, the Converge Northeast Board of Overseer approved the affiliation of our 121st and 122nd congregations! Grace Fellowship of Cortland, NY and New Destiny Church of Brooklyn, NY. Plus, our team continues to have ongoing conversations with pastors and church leaders who are interested in joining our movement. Currently, we have 30+ congregations interested in Converge Northeast.

On the church planting front, we have three church planters assessed, approved and ready to deploy this summer. We also have three additional plants in the planning phases, plus three more planters in the early conversation/pre-assessment phase. That is a total of 9 church plants on the runway to start new churches in the Northeast!

Early this spring, we gathered in Portsmouth NH for our Anchored Marriage Retreat and had an incredible time with Craig and Coletta Smith who flew out from Mission Hills Church in Denver, Colorado. 10 couples joined us and were able to take time to rest, rejuvenate and spend quality time with one another. It is amazing to see ministry couples in different phases of their lives come together and not just learn from the retreat, but also from each other.

In late May, our first Evergreen Leadership Cohort completed its one-year intensive, and we are in the process of forming another one-year cohort. The purpose of Evergreen is to work with younger leaders through the process of spiritual formation and help them to clarify their ministry calling. We also created the Evergreen Way Podcast to share the content more broadly.

We’re about to celebrate something very exciting – our inaugural Golf Classic that we are hosting in Simsbury, CT on July 11th to raise money for church planting! If you’re interested in joining us, visit our registration page.

Most of all, I want to celebrate our Converge Northeast team:

Andy Needham, Associate Director and Regional Vice President
Jenna Sheridan, Administrative and Communications Manager
Brian Prue – Area Pastor for CT
Rob Wheeler – Area Pastor for MA
Candace Fish – Director of International Ministries
Wes Pastor – Director of Revitalization

It is our privilege to serve you and the local churches in the Northeast! We look forward to what God will do for his glory in the coming year!
