Converge here, near and far

I am so excited to report on the incredible things happening across the Converge movement of churches in the US and internationally. Many of you are familiar with what’s happening in the Northeast, but did you know that we have nine other regions working with local churches and global workers serving throughout the world?

This past week, I had the privilege of representing Converge Northeast at the Converge Overseer Meetings in Orlando, Florida. It was a great couple of days connecting with the Regional Presidents of the other nine regions of Converge as well as other great leaders who serve on the board.

We celebrated the transition of two of my fellow Regional Presidents. Jim Capaldo, Regional President of Converge Heartland, who will be become the US President of Christar (a global missions agency with over 400 global workers). Gary Rohrmayer, Regional President of Converge MidAmerica, Southeast & Carribean, will be retiring after 37 years of ministry as a church planter, national leader and Regional President.

I also want to report the incredible progress of church planting Converge-wide. In 2020 we set a goal of planting 312 churches by the end of 2025. I am pleased to report that nationwide we have planted 221 churches! We have already met the goal of 15 that we set for Converge Northeast, and we are on track to substantially exceed the original goal.

After the board meetings, International Ministries Team hosted the Regional Presidents to listen to the unique needs and challenges of each region with respect to global missions and church engagement.

What unified us was our common vision reach more people with the message of Jesus Christ, HERE, NEAR and FAR. We began to pray and think how we might better partner across all Converge to raise up men and women for full time service as pastors and global workers.

The International Ministries team shared their vision with us, which is: “We are asking God for a global movement among every least-reached people group in our generation.”

It was truly inspiring, and I am excited to partner with our International Ministries staff and want to share that with you. In early May we will have two luncheon opportunities in Connecticut and Massachusetts to connect with Converge Vice President of International Ministries, Ivan Veldhuizen, and members of his team to hear what God is doing around the world. I pray that you join us! Learn more about a luncheon near you!

Whether it is planting churches, strengthening churches or sending global workers around the world, it takes prayer, planning and financial resources to do so. Your faithful prayer and generosity have made a difference!
