A Letter from Tim Ponzani, Regional President of Converge Northeast

It’s hard to believe that In a few short weeks, my tenure as Regional President of Converge Northeast will come to an end. I am grateful for the privilege of serving the pastors and leaders of the Northeast Region. Through their faithful support, our regional ministry is on solid foundation and is strongly advancing to strengthen existing churches and start new churches, here, near and far. 

God has been pleased to allow incredible growth over the last five and a half years. In 2019 we had 86 affiliated congregations and so far in 2024 we have around 120 congregations. Also, in 2019 we set a goal of planting 15 churches by the end of 2025; so far in 2024 we have seen 19 planted and have several more in the planning process.  

I am excited about the trajectory of our movement of churches in the Northeast. Whether in Converge or in other Gospel-Centered churches, we are seeing more churches planted and existing churches living out fully the mission of reaching more people with the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. 

I want to say a special note of thanks to the Board of Overseers of Converge Northeast and the gifted and talented team that I work with – Candace Fish, Dereck Jackson, Andy Needham, Wes Pastor, Brian Prue, and Jenna (Sheridan) Rooney. They are a great team, and I look forward to what God will continue to do as they serve you. 

All of this would not be possible without your faithful partnership, prayer and financial support. The words of the Apostle Paul come to mind from Philippians 1:3-6: 

“3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” 

That is my prayer for you as Sharon and I embark on our next season of ministry. I will still be working with Converge and we will still be living in the region as our hearts (and family) are in the Northeast! We will still be in partnership with you, just in a different capacity.
