A year ago, Riverwood began looking at several properties to increase effectiveness. One property stood out. However, the Elder Team felt it wasn't a wise financial move to purchase the building. In the fall, the building sold to another group. But God was still moving.
In December, the new owners of the building approached Riverwood about a lease. The new owners agreed to lease terms laid out by the church, and following a unanimous vote by the Riverwood Partners, the lease was signed the first week of March 2020.
Then the pandemic hit.
Amazingly, the Riverwood family and outside supporters rallied to fund this move generously. The pandemic has slowed the progress of remodeling and renovations, but Riverwood continues to move forward in faith, working towards a late September/early October grand opening.
As with many churches, when they get their first building, these are exciting times. And yet, due to the pandemic, these are also unknown times. Pray, God will use this property to help Riverwood accomplish the mission He gives us - to make disciples - and will provide what Riverwood needs to achieve this mission.
