Session I - 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

A. Marriage – Tiffany Markum (from Life Valley Community Church in San Jose)

This seminar is about getting back to the basics of marriage. What does it take to have a worthwhile marriage? How do you get back to loving your husband like you did on your wedding day? Not married yet? Then let’s start off on the right foot. We will talk about the four main causes of divorce (communication, finances, parenting and sex) and how to navigate them.

B. God I’m Really Afraid – Rhonda Doupe (from Grace Bible Church, Solvang)

Fear is a motivating feeling that compels us to action, whether positive or negative. Throughout the Bible we see how the authors highlight this using regular people. What we fear most decides who or what we serve. I’d like to take a look at how God is honored through His servants who have a choice to fear God over the fear of the circumstances in their life.

C. A Few Tools for Studying the Bible – Rachel Valencia (from Living Community Church, East Palo Alto)

Do you feel like you read a chapter of the Bible but nothing sinks in? Would you like to gain some tools for getting more out of God’s Word? From basic principles to more advanced techniques, we’ll demonstrate how your personal study can be richer and more meaningful.

D. Adult Parenting – Sandra Garman (from First Baptist Church, Paso Robles)

Parenting does not end when our children become adults, but our job description does. Together we will lean how to parent with A.W.E. and make the transition from parent to friend with our adult children.

E. Let’s Love Better – Wendy Clark (from The House, Hailey, Idaho)

How can we love better when it seems more difficult to love? What does love look like when we are rubbing up against people who think differently than we do or who respond differently than we do?

Session II – 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon

A. Sexual Baggage – Aubrey Monroe (from Life Valley Community Church in San Jose)

We all have sexual baggage, whether we got married as a virgin or had some sexual experience before marriage. During this seminar we will talk about what sexual baggage might be, how to identify your sexual baggage and what God says about our sexuality.

B. Children’s Ministry – Melissa Glynn (from Life Valley Community Church in San Jose)

This seminar will provide you with tips and tricks for an exciting and engaging kids ministry. We strive to create environments for children where they will be dragging their parents to church. Learning is enhanced when learning is fun.

C. Culture Wars – Jennifer Wilson (from Brentwood)

How do we as believers engage our culture for Christ? Is it through the mentality of war? Are we always to be battling our culture as an enemy or is there a better way? I want to look at building bridges to Christ through shared values and how the concept of a culture war has actually been detrimental to our witness. Within this context we’ll talk about race, LBGTQ issues, etc. Christians are to translate the message of the gospel into the vernacular of the culture and we’ll see how we can do that in light of some of the typically tricky issues.

D. Fostering Children – Sarah Beth Flaker (from Life Valley Community Church in San Jose)

An in-depth look at the ins and outs of foster care, why it’s important, practical steps to get involved, and a personal story of how it’s touched my family life. Not everyone is called to be a resource parent, but everyone can do something.

E. Living a Life of Purpose and Peace – Wendy Clark (from The House, Hailey, Idaho)

How can we be calm, peaceful, purposeful, and productive when the world around us is full of conflict and turmoil and anxiety? How can we know with confidence what to do, when to do it, and how to go about it?

Session III – 4:00 p.m.

A. Trusting God in Uncertain Times – Sandra Garman (from First Baptist Church, Paso Robles)

How do we stay strong and faithful in the midst of life’s uncertainties? How do we control those emotions that get out of control when our life feels out of control? We will look at a little Old Testament book called Habakkuk and how this little-known prophet was able to trust God in uncertain times.

B. The Real Thing – Wendy Clark (from The House, Hailey, Idaho)

Whatever you need, whatever you long for, whatever you lack, Jesus is the real thing. Don’t fall for the substitute that promises but never delivers.
