Since July 2020 the Converge North Central Search Team has been progressing and praying through the search process for the next District Executive Minister for Converge North Central. The Search Team has unanimously recommended a final candidate to the Board of Stewards who met earlier this week to accept their recommendation and formally present the candidate to our district.
I am excited to announce Mark Bjorlo as the Board of Stewards’ nominee for the position of District Executive Minister. Our district’s constitution states that the nominee for the District Executive Minister is to be presented to the district 60 days prior to a meeting where the district will conduct a ballot vote on the nominee. This announcement serves as an official notice for a special meeting of Converge North Central to be held on Friday, April 16, at 9 AM to vote for Mark Bjorlo. This meeting will be held virtually and a link to the meeting and electronic ballot will be shared two weeks prior to the meeting.
Mark is currently serving as the Lead Pastor of The Journey North, a Converge North Central multi-site church located in Aitkin and Baxter, MN, which Mark and his wife Elizabeth planted in 2003. Prior to being a church planter with Converge, Mark served at Grace Fellowship in Brooklyn Park, MN. Mark has been an active leader within Converge North Central and knows well the opportunities we have throughout our district. Mark served on the Board of Stewards from 2008 to 2018 and was on the 2014 search team for the Converge President. Mark has also given of his time and talents to help CNC Start more churches as the CNC Church Planter Fund Development Coach, Strengthen more churches as a CNC Generosity Coach, and Send people as the Converge Consortia Executive Team Lead for Spice Island.
I am encouraged by Mark’s deep sense of call to the role of District Executive Minister. We are grateful to God that He has provided us a leader who is passionate for the Gospel, committed to evangelism, faithful in discipleship, and has a love and vision for Converge North Central.
We want to provide you an opportunity to get to know Mark. Our Board of Stewards will be hosting a virtual town hall meeting with Mark Bjorlo on Friday, March 5, at 9 AM. Please save the date on your calendar and look for another communication from our CNC office with a link and more information on this virtual town hall.
Finally, I want to thank our CNC Search Team. Their efforts and process included a number of listening sessions throughout CNC to craft a role description for the leader we need for the future. They also worked tirelessly on a national search, sorting through various applicants, recommendations, and countless conversations to find the person God has called to this role. Their faithfulness in prayer and commitment to this process resulted in a strong, Christ-centered nominee who is already invested in Converge North Central.
Links for both the Town Hall and Special Business Meeting will be communicated as those dates approach.
I look forward to Mark’s leadership and what God has next for us at Converge North Central.
Converge North Central Board of Stewards Chair
