Nearly 400 attend Converge Viet annual Pastors Conference

Viet Conference

Nearly 400 Vietnamese leaders, spouses and families met for their annual pastors conference in Portland, Oregon, June 27-29. Hosted by Hope Vietnamese Baptist Church and pastor Hy Vong, workshops, worship services and fellowship meals were well attended by standing-room-only crowds.

Conference speakers included Converge district executive ministers Steve Welling (Northwest) and Dan Peterson (MidAtlantic), as well as Doug Fagerstrom, Converge senior VP. “Unity” was the conference theme, and the four worship sessions focused on the importance of unity with God, one another and among Converge churches. Workshops were conducted for next generation youth. A children’s program created an inspiring children’s choir for the Sunday worship service, and a seminar on the godly character of the leader empowered the pastors.

The VMET (Vietnamese Ministry Expansion Team), under the Converge Intercultural Ministry Office, coordinated the retreat. VMET leaders include pastor Phu Pham, pastor Andrew Le and Tu Truong. Next year’s conference will be held in Southern California.
