Hubley retires from Converge Northeast

Paul Hubley

Paul Hubley, executive minister for Converge Northeast (formerly Northeast Baptist Conference) since Spring 1997, retired September 30.

At least 11 churches were started or affiliated with Northeast region during Hubley’s 13-year ministry. He greatly advanced the region’s cultural diversity, welcoming the region’s first Filipino congregations and fostering expansion of Haitian ministries in New England and Haiti. He served on the board of Lakeside Christian Camp throughout his tenure and will continue to do so. He was highly supportive of Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire, Conn., and will begin serving as an assistant chaplain mid-month.

Close friend and co-worker Ron Larson said Hubley was “a pastor to pastors, always available and a good listener, traveling long distances for face-to-face meetings with pastors. He was a good steward, multiplying the region’s resources. Both Paul and his wife Lois were extremely generous with their time and resources.”

Trisha Knudsen, director of Northeast operations and communication since 2002, also departed from the staff September 30. Paul and Lois Hubley and Trisha and Phil Knudsen were honored at a luncheon September 18 at Elim Park Baptist Home.
