Building bridges

These are amazing times that we are living in. As we work to better understand one another, let us not discount all of the progress that has brought us to this point in time. Our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and our reconciliation with Almighty God have compelled us to begin the task of building bridges of understanding with one another. Our hope and prayer is that God, with his wisdom, will continue to lead the brave men and women of Converge down the path less traveled to gain a reward very few can conceive. This historical march towards cultural intelligence is becoming a reality in our movement because of the forward-thinking hearts of our national and district leadership.

I recently heard Stuart Briscoe speak during a retreat about God compelling us towards actions that will bring him glory. He was speaking from 2 Corinthians 5, and especially from verse 14, as he explained what it meant to be constrained/compelled by God. “It’s like being cornered or hemmed in and your only option is to yield and live not for yourself but for God only.” We learn in verse 15 that the by-product of Christ dying for all is that “all living ones may live no more to themselves, but to him who died for them and having been raised.” We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and we need to understand each other better. God is weaving a human tapestry with his church, with ever-renewing DNA, as new branches are being grafted in. He wants all living ones in his church to grow, learn and serve together as a testimony of his love and power. Our unity, by the Spirit, through our differences in culture is God’s single most-effective tool in showing the world what love looks like.

Please join me in being “all in” as we take this journey together. God will get all of the glory as he blesses us with favor, joy, peace and love. I am excited to see what God does next, and how we will all be used in the weeks, months and years ahead. Remember, it all starts with you.
