2 trips to Haiti = 1 new church

Berean Baptist Church Mansfield, Ohio

Berean Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio, sent two teams to help build a church in Hinche, Haiti.

In February, a team of 20 men traveled to Haiti to help build the fifth church for Pastor Jephthe Lucien and the Jerusalem Baptist Mission. During the first trip the men were able to complete the cement block walls.

Later on in July, Berean's SURGE Senior High School Student Ministries went back to finish the job. With 23 students and 14 leaders the crew completed the 72-foot by 56-foot building just in time for church that following Sunday. They built and raised 21 30-foot trusses, 60 pews, poured concrete flooring and painted the entire building - including the pews.

Not only did they finish the church in time for Sunday, the team ran a five-day Vacation Bible School. Over 150 people attended, ages 6 to 26. They also held a soccer camp with over 200 students.

Stacey Casey from SURGE reports,"Both of these trips were great as we saw God work around us and through us to serve and share, and to also finish a beautiful church building. The church people and pastor were overwhelmed with the church and wanted to share their thanks to all who contributed and participated to make this church a reality."
