This fall, serious talks began between Jeremy Meeks, lead pastor at Hope Community Church (in the Nations), and Marshall Gallagher, pastor at the Branch, about Marshall changing plans for the church plant.
Jeremy had recently become the director of a residency program at Simeon Trust in Chicago and needed a replacement by Jan 1st, 2019. While Marshall was hesitant to stop dreaming and planning for starting a new church, he and Jeremy began dreaming of something they both had not foreseen.
Hope Community Church was planted eight years ago and has been supporting church planting since. Marshall and the Branch launch-team were committed to the multiplication of the church through planting as well. What seemed to be two different paths had incredible similarities, and what seemed too good to be true soon became a reality.
Marshall was voted in as the lead elder/pastor in mid-November, and the current Launch team is attending Hope with the intention to become members. As the Branch, we let go of one specific vision and joined our efforts, resources, and gifts for the furtherance of the gospel through a different expression of that same vision. Everything is in the Lords hands and as our mission continues to center around making disciples that make disciples, we trust God to direct us through Hope Community Church.
We are eagerly awaiting the future to see how the Spirit continues to use Hope to spread the message of grace found in Jesus Christ and see more ministry done throughout the city. We are overjoyed and praising God for this incredible situation He has orchestrated!
