When to schedule a capital campaign

We are frequently asked: “When does our church need to start its capital campaign process?”

The answer is: “A lot earlier than you probably think.” Here’s why. There are two great times to do what is called the Public Phase of the campaign, the 4-6 weeks that commitments are made by your congregation. The first is late fall, right before the Advent season. The second is in the Spring, right before Easter. To be prepared to maximize your church’s financial involvement in the campaign, you will need six months (give or take) of preparation in what we call the Private Phase. Simply put, if you are doing a fall campaign, now is the time you want to be connecting with our office to begin your planning. If you are thinking of a spring campaign, late summer is the time you will want to begin. Remember, a Capital Campaign can seem like a daunting task, but Converge MidAmerica is ready and excited to coach you through every step of the way, so give us a call and we’ll get started together!
