Recently, we asked our churches to pray about what God was calling them to do in church planting over the next five years. Many of our churches responded and together Great Lakes has committed to planting 25 new churches in the next five years for the 2020 Converge Surge Church Planting Vision.
Pastor Aaron Winowiski of New Day church in Weston, Pastor Joe Carlson of Bethany Church in Schofield and Glenn Herschberger attended the February Church Planting Assessment Center in Orlando, Florida. Aaron is our LEAD team captain for the Central WI LEAD team and has been an assessor before. Pastor Joe enjoyed the process, and both pastors added valuable insight and feedback to the 15 couples attending this assessment.
One of those couples, Justin and Amy Novitski, attended from Great Lakes and received a recommendation as a campus pastor. They will continue the campus of Downtown Mission Church in Merrill, Wisconsin. DMC has campuses in Wausau, Stevens Point and now Merrill. We're excited to welcome Justin and Amy to the Converge family, and we celebrate that they are the first plant in our 25 church plant goal. Way to go Pastor Charlie Salamone and Downtown Mission Church!
