Give hope to Syrian refugees in Amman, Jordan

Converge Worldwide, in partnership with a Middle East ministry, is bringing the love and compassion of Jesus to Syrian refugees living in the greater Amman, Jordan, metro area. Most are women and young children fleeing the Syrian civil war.

The Work

Providing food, potable water, blankets, basic clothing, space heaters, first aid kits and other basic items to thousands of Syrian refugees.

Why now?

This is one of the coldest winters on record in Syra and Jordan. Hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees living in Jordan are hungry and cold. Their dwellings are not heated. Most live in shacks, substandard housing or overcrowded apartments. The 6 million internally and externally displaced Syrians have been called one of the world's greatest humanitarian crises today.

Most important, Jesus calls us to love our neighbors. Christians in Jordan, through our partner ministry, are ministering to the mostly Sunni Muslim and Druze refugees.

The impact

Contingent upon resources:

  • Hundreds, if not thousands, of refugees will receive food, blankets, warm clothing and other basic material needs.
  • Syrian refugees will be treated with love and respect by Christians who meet with families to make aid available.
  • A significant number of Syrian refugees will change their attitude toward Christians, who reach out to them with the love and compassion of Jesus.

How you can participate

  1. Pray. This is most important. The Lord, in his amazing grace, is meeting the many needs of the Syrian refugees and the Jordanian Christians who work with them. Pray for hope for people who have lost so much.
  2. Provide funds to purchase needed food and materials. Example: Food--$100 feeds and family of four for one month. Blanket--$11. Heater--$63. Shoes--$7.
  3. Your Converge church collects needed goods. A veteran Converge Middle East worker will assist in shipping and distribution. Contact Most needed: Food: rice, pasta, sugar, white dried beans, cooking oil, tuna, lentils. Other: Blankets, warm children's clothes, shoes, blankets, toys, diapers.
