Converge welcomed a unique and diverse group of nine missionary candidates to its Missionary Discovery & Assessment in Orlando, Florida, November 2-5. For the first time in recent Converge history, every candidate was single and under the age of 40. Many came desiring to be assessed individually but be deployed as part of a team.
This session continued a recent trend of increased diversity, as God led candidates from various ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese, Mexican, Moldavian and Filipino, to participate and discover their call to missions.
Missionary Discovery & Assessment is a Spirit-led time for candidates to discover more about God, themselves and others, as well as their call to ministry. During the three days, Converge assessors evaluated the candidates for spiritual, emotional and relational health and suitability for serving cross-culturally worldwide.
- Seven candidates received a “Go,” which means they are ready to serve in cross-cultural ministry with some recommended preparation.
- One candidate received a “Prepare.” That person needs to engage in long-term preparations before serving cross-culturally.
- One candidate received a “Stay.”
